Climbing the Cliffs
After all the smoke, heat, rain and poor weather, we had a really nice day. We went down to the cliffs by St. Thomas and climbed up and down for a bit. Erin got to show the girls all the layers of the earth that were lifted in that area. Long ago (20+ years) Erin took a geology course where she went down by the river and studied the rocks. We etched in the sandstone and chipped away at the limestone looking for fossils. Then we headed to a restaurant on Grand Avenue. We still like Cafe Latte but have expanded our favorites list. Next up was the beach for some swimming. We ended the day with a couple badminton games and trampolene jumping. We also did a family game of Boggle. Emma and Analise tried to beat Erin and Dan finding words. They ended up only having a two point difference.
We also were lucky to be able to do some black raspberry picking and visit a community garage sale. Everyone in the family found something they could use. Erin found some prizes for her class and new board games. Emma and Analise found some clothes and art supplies. Dan found some clothes and a new headset. We also donated a ton of items to the sale. We hope that this will help our community to offer more programming to families in need.
