Emma and Ani Funny Things Said/Did

Emma Funny Things Said or Did

12/1/12 Emma grabbed Mommy's hand and rubbed it up and down on a blanket.  When Mommy tried to put her hand back down, Emma immediately grabbed it again and repeated the same movement.  Emma is a big fan of blankets and how soft they are.  She must have picked up on this habit from Alli who finds any blanket in our home and makes sure to stink it up with her scent.

12/8/12 Emma loves to look at people's faces, especially Carolyn's face.  When we were at church, Carolyn held her for a bit and Emma took Carolyn's cheeks in her hands and then proceeded to squish her face up next to Carolyn's.  Mommy tried hard not to laugh.

02/04/13 Emma loves to climb up her wooden block, and, while standing, she grabs the wires and shakes it as hard as she can. She looks like she is doing a professional wrestling move.

2/08/13 Emma is very interested in music.  She loves when people clap and when her stuffed dog sings and dances.  She also likes to take chopsticks and bang on her plastic cups.

2/21/13 Emma loves laughing at Daddy's latest trick. He picks up a dino-ball, and holds it in his hands by his mouth, covering the ball so Emma can't see the ball. He then blows on the ball and makes funny buzzing sounds. Then, he pretends to sneeze or cough out the ball from his nose/mouth. The ball goes flying off in some direction, and Emma shrieks and laughs to her heart's content.

4/1/13
Emma is becoming quite the risk taker.  When mommy or daddy says, "No" and moves Emma away from an object she desires, she quickly returns.  Each time she attempts to take a risk but she tries different tactics to see if she will still get a "NO!"   In her bedroom we have a picture taped up of all her friends at daycare.  The first time she saw it, she ripped it off the wall.  The second time she pulled off half the picture.  Now she only goes over to it and lifts a tiny corner and then looks to us for a response.

4/3/13 Emma held on to the side of the crib and tried to pull herself under the crib.  She made it to her shoulders before she got scared.  She tried to flip over from her back onto her stomach and crawl out, but there wasn't much room to flip over.  She did manage to get out.

4/3/13
Diving backwards in the tub....Like I said before, Emma is a dare devil.  In the bathtub tonight, she decided she wanted to fall backwards from a sitting position.  Each time she attempted the trick, she fell back into the water and giggled.  She even splashed and kicked like she was ready to learn the backstroke.  This girl definitely loves water, and scaring Mommy to death!

4/13/13
Emma received her first kiss from a boy at the library today.

4/22/13 (10.5 months)
Emma started potty training this past weekend.  So far we have gone both ways in the toilet as long as Mommy times it right.  After we use the potty, we clap and wave bye-bye as the toilet flushes.

5/22/13
Emma took Daddy's clean socks out of his drawer and walked them over to the laundry basket.

5/24/13
Emma said uh-oh when she dropped the coupon book on the floor at the grocery store.

1 year old
Emma pulled out a book of Pompeii from the bookshelf.  As she paged through the pictures, she found a naked statue and shouted out "Daddy."  Emma has a habit right now of calling every man we pass Daddy.  I have been really working on the concept of man because it is getting kind of embarrassing to take walks to the park.

1/14
Happy Lula to You!  Emma got a little mixed up when she heard Happy Birthday for the first time and tried to sing it back.  Lula is Emma's friend at school at it was her birthday.  For awhile everyone's birthday song had Lula in it.  Happy Lula Mommy!  Happy Lula Daddy!  Happy Lula Emma!

Emma was watching a squirrel outside our front window. The squirrel was standing up eating a seed. When Emma went into the kitchen to eat breakfast, she said "I want to eat the squirrel". I think she meant that she wanted to eat breakfast WITH the squirrel. She then insisted that we bring the squirrel into the house so it could have breakfast with her.

Emma was playing with her belly button. Mommy asked her what she was doing. Emma said "I want to get it out of there."

06/21/2014
Mommies on the bus go "Sh Sh Sh", babies on the bus go "Wah Wah Wah", and daddies on the bus go "I love you!"

06/22/2014
"Emma, what's Mommy's real name?" "Big Girl!" was the answer.
"Emma, where did Daddy's beard go?" "Up into his hair!" was the answer.

The last time grandma Walczynski came over for a visit, Emma walked past her car and said, "That grandpa's car.  No crying in grandpa's car."

7/1/2014
"I funny!" (When she has her pants off and is running around her room).  Mommy says, "No, Emma this is not funny.  You need to have pants on when you are outside the bathroom.   I don't want pee on the bed or carpet."  "I funny!"  followed by her own fake laugh.  "No this is not funny."  "I funny" followed by an I am about to cry face.  Mommy: "Okay, okay Emma you are funny."  Followed by Mommy chuckling.  Emma:  "See I funny"

7/28
"Daddy, I got an orange toothbrush. It's beautiful!"

10/19/2015
"My new placemat (for eating at the table) needs to have orange on it. It's a rule."

"Emma, where's your beard?" "It's right here (points to neck). It's growing back."

1/19/16
"Tumbling is my joy in life."

1/20/16
Emma knows her entire address and her phone number.

1/21/16
When looking at a picture that Mommy drew when she was 3 1/2 years old, Emma commented...
"That's not very good."

6/16/16
Mommy was gone at a presentation with a friend for the evening.  When Daddy was supposed to read stories, Emma told him that he did not read the stories right.  She said, "You need to go out and snatch up Mommy and bring her back right NOW or there will be terrible consequences for you Daddy, the worst you've ever had!"  Finally she let Daddy read her some of the book, but said Mommy would have to redo it when she returned home. Daddy was not allowed to make a single mistake while reading or he would have to start oer and have terrible consequences. Emma proceeded to pout for an hour and would not let Dan leave her side until she fell asleep.

Ani Funny/Cute Things Said or Did

Analise loves learning about body parts. One of her favorite songs is "Head, shoulders knees and toes." She always smiles when I touch her face. She also loves to touch Daddy's face, especially his chin.

1 1/2 years
When asked what Mommy's real name was (first name) she responded "Mary"
When asked what Daddy's name was she responded "Joseph"
We had been playing with the Nativity scene throughout the month of December.

When Mommy asks Ani what she did at school each day, her response is always "Good"

After Ani finishes a meal, she asks for two mini-cucumbers.

Ani definitely knows when she needs to go to bed.  Sometimes she will shout at you "NEED TO GO TO BED!"

Ani always says "I love you" before going to bed.  She also says "Good Morning" when she wakes up.

Ani loves to wave and smile at those she passes by.  Many people stop to talk with her.

When Ani climbs up to the church alter to deliver food, she plays a game where she sits up and down on the stair.  Mommy and Daddy get a bit embarrassed but the whole church is mesmerized by it.

1/20/16
Ani knows her street address.

When Mommy quizzes Ani on her colors, everything is always "Pink."

Ani 2 years old
There was a "tomato drill" at school today.  Ani became obsessed with tomato drills for the next two months.  Thunder and lightning was also an obsession.

Wearing underwear on your head and singing at the top of your lungs is apparently a very comical endeavor for a two year old.

6/14/2016
"Happy birthday to me, happy birthday to me, happy birthday dear YOU, happy birthday to me."

6/16/2016
Ani asked mommy, "Can you cut off my toe? It's hurting. I don't need that toe. Just cut it off, Mommy." We think she meant toenail.
