Museums, Volunteering and Shows

Break started off with a bang. Emma and Erin had the flu over the weekend. Thankfully the chills and fever only lasted 3 days and we we back on track by Tuesday with our spring break plans. On the girls' first week off, we visited museums and went to many sports practices. Like usual, Analise has gymnastics practices. Emma is starting track and field practices. She is doing long distance running and the long jump as her events this season. We were able to walk downtown St. Paul and visit the History Museum on Wednesday. We also spent a lot of time going through clothes to figure out what is still "acceptalble" for middle school and what is too "babyish." We have a lot of clothes to donate this summer at the community garage sale.
Then on Thursday we visited the Walker Art Center with Aunt Sharon.
On Friday we got our passports for Canada this summer and Emma was told by the track coach that they want her on the varsity team. Now we just have to decide as a family if that is the right direction to go or if it is too much. The weather was great at the end of the week. The girls got their bikes out and road to the library multiple times. We also spent time with Chica taking her for walks. She is finally feeling better and acting more like her normal dog self.
On Saturday we went to the Ordway musical, "Dear Evan Hansen" about a middle school boy with social anxiety. The musical was very sad but a good way of depicting what so many teenagers go through when they think the grass is greener on the other side. Eventually all the things you thought were such a big deal become small and not as important. It just takes time.
Next week the girls will go to Sioux Falls, South Dakota with Dan for a few days. They decided to leave Tuesday morning so that they can still go to their sports practices and hang out with friends on Monday.
