Emma Enjoys her time with Grandma

To give Mommy a bit more time with Analise and allow Emma to have the attention she desires, grandma has taken Emma to her house a few times after preschool.  Emma is all about dressing up!  She was last seen trying on her Easter dress and lots of beads sent from Mardi Gras in New Orleans.  Emma's cousin Alex sent her some incredibly large necklaces that she loves trying on.

"How many of these can I put on before my neck starts to hurt?"

"Wow, I really must see this thing they call Mardi Gras"

Although Emma loves playing her own games these days, she does take a minute or two to show Analise the ropes.  Emma loves to read stories to her sister and can often be seen showing Analise exactly how her toys work (well, at least the Emma version of how her toys work).  Analise loves to be held and enjoyed looking at the gold and silver Easter eggs grandma has for playing peek-a-boo.

Analise: "Okay Emma, I get it. Froggy has a sister and you are my sister... "

"Put that horrible bug book away.  That Yo-yo bug really scares me!"

"Why do so many people keep looking at the flashing light and saying smile?"

Quality Time

Mommy has been enjoying the time she is able to spend at home with Emma and Analise this past month.  She can't believe how fast the time has gone by.  We have visited with family, friends and attended a variety of events.

Grandma Maas visited our house in the middle of March and stayed for a week.  During her stay, the girls got to visit the Como Zoo and the Monkey House.  We even went out and bought some new spring clothes for Emma at the mall.  While at the Monkey House, grandma taught Emma how to jump off the ledge into a ball pit backwards.  Mommy thought nothing of it until Emma decided to show off her new skill in the pool the next week.  True to her daredevil nature, Emma could be seen effortlessly jumping backwards into the pool. Mommy was in shock and constantly reminded Emma about safety as she giggled and shouted, "I did it!"

"Now if I could just figure out a way to get away from Mommy and Grandma Jan for a bit I might be able to go swimming in that pool over there."

 Spring is here!

They didn't tell me that being a "monkey" was so much work.  I am exhausted!

Grandpa Bruce joined us on Friday evening and stayed for the weekend.  From Grandpa Emma learned how to try on adult shoes and walk around the house with them on.  The following week, Mommy's shoes were seen shuffling around the kitchen at any chance Emma was able to sneak them away from the front door.  Mommy was so thankful that grandma was there to help out during the week!  It is hard to get out of the house even to get groceries with both girls.

"Why haven't I ever tried fajitas before?  They are delicious!"

"No, I do not use hair spray to make it stay up like that...It's all natural!"

We have also spent a lot of time with Grandma Walczynski and Grandma Kubacki.  Analise had a chance to visit Grandma Kubacki's house on the day Grandma Walczynski decided to burn the eggs.  When Mommy and Analise arrived, the apartment was filled with smoke.  Grandma Walczynski had a broom fanning the smoke detector as she prayed the building would not have to be evacuated.  Analise, Mommy and Grandma Kubacki went out to the sitting room to chat as the smoke dissipated. Analise gave quite a few smiles to both grandmas and enjoyed listening to nursery rhymes.

Analise, get ready for cameras.  Grandma Walczynski carries them everywhere!

This past week, Grandma Walczynski, Mommy, Emma and Analise went to the Macy's Spring Flower Show.  The smells in the room were amazing!  Emma was starting to get a cold so the pictures we took often had a frown or confused face displayed.  Mommy has come to realize how challenging it is to get a good family photo.  If we ever achieve a picture with everyone smiling, Mommy will frame it!

Mommy:  "Hurry up and take the picture before someone decides to move."

"Can we plant some of these in our yard, Daddy?"
They smell even better than they look.

Mommy: "Could everyone just look at the camera please?"

Valentine's Day and Grandma's 100th Birthday

Lots of exciting events filled this past month.  Besides the birth of Analise, Emma celebrated Valentine's Day at her school with Grandma Walczynski and Great-grandma Kubacki celebrated her 100th Birthday.

At Emma's Valentine's Day party, each student handed Valentine's out to each classmate and wished them a Happy Valentine's Day.  Emma was especially excited about giving a Valentine to her friend Thomas.  Thomas and Lula are friends we hear about regularly from school.  In addition to passing out Valentine's Emma's group sang a special song and had a Valentine's lunch together.

For Grandma's 100th Birthday Party, everyone dressed in yellow.  At first Emma was a bit overwhelmed by all the guests at the party.  However, once she found her cousins, she became more engaged in the event.  Lots of pictures were taken and many candles blown out.  A special essay written by Aunt Jeanne was shared with the group before final goodbyes were said.
